School: Lincrest Elementary
Class: First Grade, Room 2
My name is Miss Ger Thao. I was born in Thailand but grew up in the US. I come from a large family of six brothers and two older sisters. I am an aunt to five nieces and seven nephews. I have a baby turtle. I am Bilingual: Hmong/English. I love to travel and learn new things.
I did my Practicum I of Student Teaching at Helen M. Wilcox (Palermo Unified School District) in a 3rd grade class. I got the opportunity to complete my second semester of Student Teaching at St. Ultan’s National School in Dublin, Ireland working with Kindergartners, which I am looking forward to sharing with my new students. I am the first one in my family of nine children to graduate from a four-year university. I graduated from California State University, Chico in four years with a BA in Liberal Studies and Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in May 2010. I am currently pursuing my Masters Program - Curriculum and Instruction at CSU, Chico.
I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl. I have been working with kids ever since I was a freshman in high school and have been doing it ever since. I believe that “A teacher can shape a child, and that child can shape the world.” Teaching is my passion because every day is a new adventure.
This is my third year teaching First Grade and my fourth year of teaching. My first year of teaching at Lincrest, I taught a 2nd/3rd Grade Combo class. I am so excited to be able to work with your child and with you for the 2013-2014 school year. I hope we can work together to make this a successful year.
